The Blue Book continues the story of Mi's life. Many years later, after he has reached middle-age, Mi finds he has spent his entire youth fruitlessly looking for the touch of magic he felt on that lone hilltop early in his childhood. The passing years and countless leagues have left Mi a weary traveller ready to give up his search.

Just as Mi is about to turn around for home, he encounters three magical creatures who cause him to pause, and help to heal his weariness of heart. After Mi is rejuvinated, but still drowsy and forgetful of his seeking, he crosses pathes with four separate Artists (a story-teller, musician, sculptor and dancer). Mi is intrigued by their artistry as he watches each Artist, oblivious to his presence, practice their craft.

As the fourth and final Artist passes away, Mi remembers his task. He comes to a realisation and finds renewed strength to convert his search into practice, to find a path to the source. The play ends as Mi sets out to do so.
